Square Mile Coffee Roasters began operations in East London in 2008, with the express aim to source, roast and supply coffee of unmatched quality to discerning and passionate wholesale customers. Conjointly, providing unparalleled training, advice and support has been key to ensuring that our customers get the greatest possible value out of the product and service we provide.
Now, in May 2010, Square Mile Coffee Roasters will be launching our first retail venture – Penny University. To run concurrently with existing roasting and wholesale distribution operations, Penny University will be a showcase for the complex and varied filter coffees and brewers that, despite their clarity, sweetness and ease to brew, remain unjustly overshadowed by espresso.
Forsaking espresso, we’ll be offering instead a plethora of full immersion, cloth and paper filter, syphon and cold drip brewing options, each paired with a Square Mile Coffee Roasters coffee for enjoyment in-store. Additionally, customers will be able to purchase retail coffee for home use, select from many different brewers, a range of grinders, and all manner of useful home coffee brewing accessories.
Informed, educated, passionate and helpful staff will be on hand to explain the techniques and methods for getting the best results out of both the coffee on offer and the brewers alike.
It’s with great excitement that we unveil Penny University, and share with London our love for the truly exceptional coffees and brewers that until now have been unfortunately scarce and unfamiliar. We’re looking for people who want to be involved with the newest, freshest and most exciting developments in coffee, retail and service, and who are enthused and invigorated by the challenge of constantly striving to do things better.
Service
We strongly believe that the key to Penny University’s success will rely greatly on the ability and willingness of our staff to engage in the highest level of customer service possible. Our staff will be passionate, considerate, humble and excited by the prospect of sharing knowledge with our customers in an articulate, charming and conscientious manner. While training on all elements relating to coffee, coffee brewing and service standard will be given, successful candidates will display an existing passion and dedication for the highest level of customer service.
Role Summary
The Store Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the retail store, and all elements within it, are maintained in a pristine, neat and organised manner. Additionally, the Store Assistant is tasked with providing support to Baristas in the preparation of drinks for service and with customer service.
Qualifications
- 2 years experience in food service or high end retail preferred
- A desire to execute coffee drink preparation to the highest standard
- A genuine passion for service, learning, development and progression
