Commis Chef
Job Description:
Kaffeine is an Australian owned cafe and espresso bar in Central London that has quickly established itself as one of Londons best, focussing on quality, seasonal and fresh food with excellent coffee and service.
We make gourmet sandwiches, do a lot of baking of muffins, brownies, cookies, portuguese tarts, biscuits and breads as well as wonderful seasonal salads. Made fresh in our kitchen every day, our food has a fantastic reputation for the quality we produce.
We are looking for a commis chef who is looking to develop their skills in a busy kitchen, supporting our lead chef to take Kaffeine into being the best in London.
Overview:
This person has responsibility to assist the lead chef of the kitchen in the preparation, storage and readiness for display of all food items. Food safety regulations must be adhered to at all times. Continuous improvement on the food offer must also be made at all times and the kitchen must be always kept at or above required hygiene standards. They must keep the mission statement, core values and ‘care factor’ of the business at the heart of every decision.

•To assist the lead chef in the preparation of all required food items
•To ensure that the food offer for the business keeps up with daily and future demands
•To ensure that all food is fresh, attractive and appealing to all guests
•To keep the kitchen within all correct food safety regulations
•To keep wastage and costs to a minimum by operating effectively and efficiently
•To be forward thinking and pro active and to ensure that all decisions are the best possible outcomes for the business, the staff and the guests.

Responsibilities:
Daily
•Prepares all agreed food items for the appropriate service periods
•Follows agreed recipes of the kaffeine menu to prepare all food products
•Receives, checks and stores appropriately all food items delivered on that day
•Stores all food items accordingly maintaining stock rotation, par levels and health and safety considerations
•Brings all prepared and final food products from the kitchen to the main service area for display
•Ensures food and all related costs are kept to a minimum by working efficiently and effectively
•Cleans and maintains kitchen area following store cleaning procedures and food safety guidelines
•Prepares appropriate and agreed amounts of relevant food items ready for the next shift
•Keeps wastage to a minimum and maintains daily reports on wastage
Hours: 6 am to apoprox 2 pm weekdays and 7:30 am to 2 pm saturdays. Sundays are closed and you will receive one other day off per week.
Rate: Starting at £6.00 per hour plus holiday pay of 12.07% (£0.72p per hour).
